About Finasteride
Finasteride is an 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor that works by blocking the body's production of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone that causes changes to hair follicles. DHT is responsible for shrinking hair follicles, leading to hair follicles becoming thinner and shorter. By inhibiting the process, Finasteride helps to prevent these hair follicles from shrinking and leading to hair growth. With its 5-alpha-reductase inhibitory function, Finasteride helps to prevent DHT from converting into DHT in the body, leading to increased hair growth and stronger hair loss. As a result, it helps in hair regrowth and improved hair thickness. Finasteride is considered a safe and effective treatment option for hair loss in men. It works by inhibiting the activity of an enzyme called 5-alpha-reductase, which converts testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a male sex hormone. DHT is a key player in the development of male pattern hair loss (androgenetic alopecia), making it an ideal condition for hair regrowth.
